Artist Statement 

​

This series of paintings represent feelings of nostalgia. Each work is created from layering and distorting images from personal memories into a fractured composition that hovers between abstraction and representation.  The act of painting is like remembering and allows for new imagery to form.  This process and product mimics the way we look back on our memories- at once bringing bright and isolated moments to the surface as well as changing our recollections over time.

This series began in the summer of 2023 at the Chateau Orquevaux artist residency.
