This is the end of the year show with elementary, middle, and high school. Framed and displayed 300+ student works in the high school.










AP Studio Art
AP Studio Art is a year-long, college-level art course in which students choose a Drawing, 2-D Art & Design, or 3-D Art & Design portfolio. Students develop a series of works that explore a personally meaningful concept, demonstrating creativity and technical mastery in a media focus. Students work independently on their objective and present their work regularly for critiques and a solo exhibition of their work in the all-school art show. Students are 11th or 12th graders.

Advanced Art
Linoleum Print
Objective : Create an original linoprint of a subject of your choice.
Skills : synthesizing imagery - stylization - use of positive and negative space - line - linoprint carving - texture - creating an edition - handpainting a print - printmaking process

Steps : Artist exemplars and student examples - small practice print - class share - thumbnail sketches - teacher feedback - final sketch - block transfer - sharpie - carving - printing with various inks and papers - painting - critique

Personal History Still-Life
Objective : Compose a 'trompe l'oeil' still-life of objects painted or drawing in any medium that symbolize your life.

Objective : Compose a composition of a figure using any medium that either uses an original reference or synthesizes found sources.

Art 1
AP Studio Art is an semester-long introductory course to visual art and culture. Students develop a meaningful portfolio of a wide range of assignments in various media, subject matter, and objectives. Students build visual literacy skills by studying works of art. Students are usually 9th graders in Art 1.




Art 2
Art 2 is an semester-long course that builds on skills and knowledge learned in Art 1 through a range of assignments designed to explore more subjects, concepts, and media. Students usually take this course in the spring semester of their 9th grade year.












Landscape Painting


Objective : Paint an acrylic landscape using Impressionist techniques of a place you have been in your life that brings you happiness.
Skills : reflection - painting process - markmaking - light and shade - color theory - perspective - atmosphere

Digital Art & Design
Digital Art is a fall semester course in which students learn how to use Photoshop, Illustrator, and smart phone photography. Assignments are varied from collage, illustration, animation, and graphic design. A maximum of 20 students, usually in 10th grade, take this course.
